2023 - Life After Cancer and Other Updates
Today is World Cancer Day. World Cancer Day is an initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the largest and oldest international cancer organization dedicated to taking the lead in convening, capacity building and advocacy initiatives that unite the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, promote greater equity, and integrate cancer control into the world health and development agenda.
Reflecting upon this, it is a brand new year and I am happy to share that I am still cancer free! It has been a busy fourth quarter and in December, I had a lot of family and friends visiting. It is always nice to reconnect with loved ones. I cannot believe that January has come and gone - time seems to move much faster as you get older. Because time is the one thing we cannot buy more of, I plan to be a lot more protective of my time. One thing I have learned about getting cancer is that those who really care about you will show up. Prior, I would always go above and beyond for people and I realized that I put everyone before my own needs. Cancer has taught me that life is truly a gift and to do what you want, live for you and be unapologetically yourself. That does not mean you should be an asshole but not live your life for someone else or to do thing to please others. It is possible to be kind to yourself and others.
Each year, I review my previous goals and set goals for the New Year to grow personally and professionally. For 2023, I would like to share my goals -
10 Year Goal: 50 Years Old

I’m proud of the work I do and have a salary that can support my lifestyle.
