About Face

Since I was a little girl, my mother has always talked about how skincare is SO important. Like many Asian mothers, my mom would always emphasize how sunscreen is THE most important step in the 4-step cleaning process. Below is my daily routine that I would like to share for a fabulous fresh face:

Step 1: Wet your face, use a light facial cleanser and rub gently.
Currently, I am using Aveda’s Botanical KineticsTM Purifying Gel Cleanser which is cool to the touch. When you apply it on your face, you can start to relax as you smell the chamomile and lavender scents.

Step 2: Use a cotton ball and rub toner to take off excess soap and oil residue
The Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System has one of the best toners! I love the “Clarifying Toner” for oily skin, it helps take away the excess dirt and grime without drying out my skin. You can find this and other great Clinique products at Sephora or other department stores.

Step 3: Then lightly apply moisturizer all over
Clinique also has a fabulous moisturizer that is oil free that will still hydrate the skin. It leaves it feeling soft and smooth (ahh love!)

Step 4: Finally….SUNCREEN! SUNCREEN! SUNSCREEN!
Apply all over the face and anywhere your skin is exposed.
I have been using Neutrogena’s Sunscreen for about 3 years now and I have to say that it is the best value. It is about $10-$12 found in all drug stores and its formula shields your skin from harmful UV rays.

It can be a hassle to upkeep this system, however, remember, your skin is an investment. You must protect it against the elements and be gentle with it. How do you care for your skin? What is your skin regiment? Any suggestions?

Great tips! As a guy, I’m very reluctant to use any product. However, I do believe in washing my face with a gentler soap like dove. Also, I think hydration is very undervalued with regards to skin care. Drinking more water as opposed to other drinks replenishes the skin cells.
