HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! Today is one of my favorite holidays, not only do we get to start the year over again, we can start over on resolutions , eat delicious dim sum and receive lucky money! It is a Chinese New Year tradition is to reconcile, let go of grudges and sincerely wish peace and happiness for everyone.
There are many Chinese traditions and customs that follow this day, one of them is that you must clean up your house to sweep away the ill fortune and make room for good luck! I spent last weekend cleaning like a crazy woman and I am happy to say that I can invite people over! It is not just clean, but “Monica” clean. Another tradition is to wear red so that you may have happiness, health, and prosperity.
Today I am wearing my red Forever 21 Tank Top ($3.50). Great place to shop when you want fashion and a deal, better yet, a lot of their clothes are made in China!
Finally, my favorite tradition is to eat GOOD Chinese food! Many people know that I am not a big fan of Chinese food and I would say that it is because as a child, I ate the stuff daily! However, I do enjoy good dim sum! On Tuesday, January 18th, Jade Dynasty had their official Grand Opening, and they gave out samples such as the roasted pig with bun, fried tofu, charsiu, har gau, and my favorite the crystal taro bun. If you have a chance, you should check them out. Also there are a lot of good eat in China Town such as Tai Pan located in the Chinese Cultural Plaza.
To all my friends and family, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! May it be a happy, healthy, and prosperous one, fill with good luck and good fortune! ❤
